The Ultimate Book Tag

Hello Bookish Rookies,

How is the weather where you are at? It has been a rainy day which is like most days in Seattle and I don’t know how I feel about that because I got to read more although I love getting out in the sun.

If you are reading this post, then you are most likely into reading books and reading blogs which are related to books. As a new blogger in town, I thought it would be fun to do this Book Tag which would help us connect better. If you are a book related blogger then consider yourself tagged. If you get to posting about this then please do tag me, I would love you to read the post and know more about you and your reading style. 🙂

I came across this tag while browsing through random posts on Goodreads. The post I am referring to is by Wordnerddb, who referred to it from elsewhere. So I am really not sure of the origin of this tag but I figured it would be a fun post anyway. Now moving on to the actual questions,

Disclaimer : There are 25 questions and this post could be a little longer than expected. But we are readers aren’t we?

  • Do you get sick while reading in the car?

I wish I did not as I could read a lot more but I do. If I attempt to read anything or even browse through social media for a duration greater than 5 minutes then I feel sick and nauseated 😦 Hate the feeling but thank god for technology and audio books. I have been into audibooks lately. Thoughts?

  • Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

Well, I am a newbie in blogger world and also in the book reading world. I would say I am not really qualified to answer this question. But I love Michelle Moran, I am not sure if it is her writing style, the concept of historical fiction or the fact that the stories are based on strong female characters, I am hooked and I love her work.

  • Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga?

Well, I won’t lie that I was completely hooked to the Twilight movie line as a teenager but my love for Harry Potter is not and will not be time bound. So hi-fi all the Harry Potter fans.

  • Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is it in (besides books…)?

I do not have a separate book bag.  But I do have a book/kindle in the bag I carry. My bag is a typical chick bag with all the essentials a girl needs and a good book is one of my favorite essential.

  • Do you smell your books?

All the time. Don’t they pacify you and make you feel at home?

  • Books with or without little illustrations?

I am not very keen on having illustrations in books but I don’t mind books with very very minimal illustrations. Too many could be distracting.

  • What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing

I am exploring the school of books and I haven’t even reached A of the A-Z syllabus. I am not qualified to be the judge of writing. But I will continue to write how I felt while reading a particular book and whether I enjoyed it or not through my reviews.

  • Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

The only books I read as a kid were Nancy Drew and most of the Enid Blyton series.

  • What is the thinnest book on your shelf?

This could be one of the biggest reveal through this post – 90 % of my books are borrowed from my library. I only buy books that aren’t easily available or books that I love and I am sure I would re-read in future. My thinnest book that I’ve read so far is Ganesha goes to Lunch by Kamla K Kapur. It an Indian mythology book I really enjoyed and had too many illustrations too. Anyone who wants a summary of the Gods and related stories then this is a good starting point.

  • What is the thickest book on your shelf?

I’ve never been the kind of person who looks at the number of pages. Although, I think The Book Thief , would be the thickest book with 552 pages which I am sure is next to nothing in this world.

  • Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?

The only writing I do is this blog and my personal journal. I don’t think I ever want to be an author. I think my lifetime will not be sufficient to read all the amazing books I want to read. So, sorry no time to write 😛

  • When did you get into reading?

A few months ago. I moved to Seattle in May and had a lot of time to kill while I waited for my work permit and found a job. So, books started as a way to kill time and soon became an obsession. Although I read around 10 books before, I feel like I awoke in September of 2016.

On a side note, I have a really bad memory. This blog is also a reminder of the books I’ve read and the way they made me feel at the time.

  • What is your favorite classic book?

Out of my little library, I think Little Women by Louisa May Alcott would top the list.

  • In school was your best subject Language Arts/English?

I was good at Mathematics and I loved the subject and solving problems. I sucked at pretty much everything else.

  • If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated…what would you do?

I am not sure. I think it depends on the sentiments of the person who gifted me the book. If they’ve signed it with a message then it will be a keeper for sure.

  • What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?

You tell me your favorite and I will add it to my TBR.

  • What is a bad habit you always do (besides rambling) while filming?

This has to be modified slightly to fit the context here. This is really my third post and I feel like I need to proof read more before actually publishing my post.

  • What is your favorite word?

Serendipity. I love the way it sounds, it does sound magical doesn’t it?

  • Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?

I don’t think I fall in any of the above categories. Well, not yet.

  • Vampires or Fairies? Why?

Vampires. I think it would be cool to have a vampire in your army in war like situations than fairies.

  • Shape-shifters or Angels? Why?

Shape-shifters because the possibilities are endless.

  • Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

None. I don’t think I would be happy seeing either of them at anytime.

  • Zombies or Vampires?

Ughh. Both?

  • Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?

This is difficult too. If I have to chose then I would say forbidden love. Why limit the madness to three people?

  • Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

Action packed with a few love scenes mixed in obviously. I don’t think I can read romance books without a mystery or twist in them.

Now, to continue this on I would like to tag 3 of my favorite bloggers to do this tag.

  1. The Book Satchel
  2. The Nobby Life
  3. Sammy Reads Book

I would love to hear your thoughts on this. I’d request all of you to go ahead and tag 3 more people and share the tag.
